In 2000, there were 78,000 women engineers in France, of which 94% were active. The population is young with 50% of those women being 30 years old or younger. Despite, women make up only 16% of the engineering population, but 23% of the engineering students. The objective of Femmes Ingénieurs is therefore aimed at the young ladies, but it is also to promote the engineering profession in the industry, within diverse teams that are complimentary.
